This unit fits in the existing USB port holder in the tray/cubby forward of the shift lever... not in the accessory blanks (sometimes covered by a slotted cover/card holder) immediately forward of the shift lever. Getting the factory USB out of the "USB Port Holder" was tricky as there are tabs on both sides and it is in there tight. Once out, take a look at the shape of the holder and also a look at the shape of this insert... Trust me, it goes in upside down, not how it looks like it should fit. you shouldn't have to trim anything but you will think you are putting it in upside down. As far as the expense... it should last as long as the car, so in fairness, likely not that expensive if amortized over time... and based on my searches, this is the only easy solution that fits like factory and channels USB3.
