This Dension unit is an iPod / iPhone and auxiliary device. If offers song and playlist controls from the radio and steering wheel controls while never locking the controls on the iPod or iPhone. It also has a universal aux input that can take audio from virtually any device and play it on your factory speakers. This device tricks the radio into thinking its an external CD changer. Since it uses the external CD changer port it does not disable the CD or cassette in the radio. Dension has made OEM iPod adapters for Volkswagen / Audi so you can expect OEM build and sound quality.

I consider this the best way to add an auxiliary port and iPod connection to an 2008 Audi A4 convertible. I found the excellent videos done by Enfig and after watching these and looking through their site, I selected the Dension GW1LAUT.
It's very easy to install and only requires that you disconnect the multi CD player (which we were never going to use) and plug in the adapter directly into the CD connector. It gives you an 3.5 mm aux port plus a digital iPod connection that both powers the iPod (including starting and stopping when you start the car) and allows for basic controls from the Audi stereo (volume, track selection, playlist selection).
A great feature is that it allows you to use the iPod to select what you want to play, as opposed to making the unit only controllable through the car interface. I have a huge library on a 160 gig unit and nothing beats the iPod wheel.
The sound is fantastic from both the iPod & aux ports.
