2003 Acura MDX with Navigation BlitzSafe iPod interface HON/M-Link1 DMX V.1 installation and radio removal.
Car: 2003 Acura MDX with Navigation Radio and In Dash 6 Disc CD Changer.
Interface: BlitzSafe HON/M-Link1 DMX V.1
Notes:
This is the navigation radio in that car.
This is the interface that we put in the car. BlitzSafe HON/M-Link1 DMX V.1 : http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/HON_MLINK1_1.html
The first thing you have to do is remove the trim bezel around the radio. We recommend using this trim removal tool. Profit International DM-40-22 http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/PROFIT_DM_40_22.html
Insert trim removal tool into the left side of the left air vent (approx. 4"), pry until the bezel pops out. Do the same to unsnap the right side. There are (6) total clips just on the top of the bezel. This bezel surrounds the air vents, navigation system or climate control, and radio. Continue removing the bezel by working your way around from the top to the bottom of the radio. Releasing (2) clips on each side of the Radio/Nav unit. Continue down to the bottom carefully, as the bezel is very tight, and there are (3) clips on the bottom of the bezel under the radio.
The pictures below show the clips as well as the 4 connectors that you have to remove.
Once you take out the bezel there will be 3 philips head screws on each side. The silver ones also have a 8mm head. We recommend using a 8mm socket to remove these. Below is a picture of the screws on the right side. The left side is the same. Remove these.
Get a thick towel or a sweat shirt and wrap the radio so you do not scratch the dash board. Pull out the radio and you will find the empty CD changer connection on the back of the radio pictured here.
Plug in the blue connector from the interface into the open connector on the back of the radio.
The iPod cable in this car was run through the glove box as seen below. I would recommend running it out by the passengers feet so the cable does not get pinched in the glove box door.
This is the radio screen while the in dash CD changer is playing.
This is what the radio screen will look like when the external CD changer mode is selected and the BlitzSafe is active.
